As we mark Customer Service Week 2025, the Psychological Society of Kenya (PSK) celebrates all our members, partners, and the public we proudly serve. This year, we reflect on the psychology behind service — empathy, active listening, understanding, and human connection — the very principles that define both excellent customer service and our profession.
At PSK, we believe that every act of service is an act of humanity. As the national voice for psychology in Kenya, our mission is to promote mental well-being, professional excellence, and ethical practice in all spheres of human interaction.
Kenya’s starvation cult - a psychologist’s view
In early April 2023, Kenyan police discovered a mass grave linked to a Pentecostal church in the coastal town of Malindi. By the end of the month, at least 110 bodies had been dug up from shallow graves in the area’s Shakahola forest. By 13 May, 201 bodies had been found.

The Psychological Society of Kenya (PSK) expresses its deepest condolences and strongest condemnation following the tragic and senseless killing of Albert Ojwang’, a 30-year-old teacher, husband, and father, reportedly murdered by police officers under circumstances that raise urgent concerns about state-sanctioned violence, impunity, and systemic disregard for human life.
Albert Ojwang’ was not only a citizen with constitutional rights—he was a young professional, an educator, and the cornerstone of a young family. His untimely death represents not just a personal tragedy, but a profound psychological blow to his family, colleagues, students, and community.
As the authoritative and public voice for the psychology and mental health profession in Kenya, the PSK is compelled to respond to this deeply disturbing incident with the following positions:
Kenyan court says Meta can be sued for psychological distress
A Kenyan judge on Monday rejected an effort by Facebook’s parent company, Meta, to be removed from a lawsuit alleging worker abuse, exploitation and union-busting at its Nairobi content moderation hub, which was run by a contractor.
